The surf house is located on Weligama Bay, known for being an easy beach break, hence ideal for beginners and long board surfers. Nonetheless, this area offers much more than surfing which is ideal when you want to combine surf with other activities. From Natural Parks, to snorkelling, to visiting historic UNESCO World Heritage Sites and amazing beaches.
Here you'll feel surrounded by a very relaxing energy and easy going atmosphere, encouraging any visitor to book yoga classes.
Weligama Bay, is on Sri Lanka’s southern tip, a TOP destination for surfers and those looking for idyllic sun and beach destinations.
The surf house is only 2 hours away from Colombo’s International Airport and 1 hour from Galle’s Fort, a building with 5 centuries of history that was named by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
You’ll choose Sri Lanka if you’re looking for a remote and exotic country with a warm weather all year round. In terms of surfing, this is probably one of the least explored surf destinations in the region and super laid back when compared to Indonesia, being ideal for beginner and intermediate surfers.
Villa Muhudu Bella Surf House is a pleasingly unusual colonial style, one-bedroom house in front of a sandy beach and surrounded by an exotic garden. Staying in this villa will give you all the privacy you can possibly have during your surf holidays in Sri Lanka. It’s usually booked by many young couples who want to combine romance and surf together!
The villa’s design and geometry is fascinating in many ways almost looking like the shape of a snail! In addition to the queen size bed, the master bedroom has its own dressing room occupying a circular space with a large glass door. It will be difficult to leave this place so we definitely recommend from 10 to 14 days stay!
The house has its own veranda with awesome sea views over the Indian Ocean and the exotic garden with plenty of hibiscus plants that blossom throughout the year.
We can provide yoga, meditation and cooking classes. This is not an ordinary surf house, it’s more like a 5-star villa providing high quality comfort, ideal for young couples looking for surf holidays in Sri Lanka.
The villa also has high speed Internet coverage and Wi-Fi.
Midigama is the most famous surf spot but all the area of Weligama Bay has hundreds of other surf breaks in close distance. You can even walk to some of them!
This is probably the most popular surf destination in Sri Lanka because of it consistency catching practically all the swells generated on the Indian Ocean, the same ones that reach Indonesia and Maldives, but despite that the waves here aren't as big and powerful like in those two countries.
Weligama Bay is known for being a beach break surrounded by unbelievable tropical landscapes. The perfect match for relaxed surf holidays! This is one of the top 10 destinations of Sri Lanka for surf and kite surf. Though this area is not expected to have powerful swells due to its bay shape that protects from the ocean, but on the other hand it doesn’t have any sort of localism or experienced surfers ruining the lineup and hence ideal for beginners and long boards.
The region attracts all types of surfers due to a wide set of beach breaks easily surfable by beginners and a few occasional reef breaks to delight the more experienced surfers.
Any time is a good time to surf here but you can get better conditions between November till April when morning offshore winds blow in the Western part of the island.
For kitesurf you can also try Mirissa where winds have more power along with crystal clear blue waters.
