Taiwan has just recently been discovered as a surf destination. It was first surfed by American soldiers in the 60’s but due to a martial law that ruled till 1987 surf has been prohibited.
Nowadays surf clubs and shops are popping up everywhere and an increasing number of surfers gather along the east coast. The island has a big swell window and good consistency but the best waves arrive after SE typhoons or NE monsoon swells.
If you’re lucky to get one of those, you’ll get some lifetime waves! Also, as important as it is to be there at the right time, it is also to be at the right place!
