Cantabria is an historical region and one of the greenest areas of the North of Spain with a lush vegetation and a climate strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Santander, its Capital, is a dynamic city offering many cultural attractions, restaurants, bars and many entertainment options.
Apart from its cultural side, Santander is also a sun and sea destination, especially during the summer months when the good weather calls everyone down to the beach. Just like once pilgrims did on their way to Santiago de Compostela, now surfers are the new pilgrims that travel to the Cantabria's region searching for every surf spot. And like on any other pilgrimage, every effort or sacrifice has its rewards!
With so many surf spots around, Surfinn Surf Camps prepared surfari packages with the best prices that will guide you through the region of Santander and lead you to surf spots like El Brusco, El Muro, Suances, Laredo and Somo, where our surf shcool and surf camp is located!
If you are looking for an ideal beach break and surf camp to learn how to surf in Santander, then this is it. Our certified Surf School and instructors will make sure you will get the best waves with super fun. Somo Surfcamp is situated in an ideal location where you can see Somo's beach and all the Santander Bay.
Somo Surfcamp is both a Surf Camp and Surf School, ideally located in Somo just 2 minutes walking from the beach and with a magnificent view over Santander's bay.
The surf camp is a completely renovated house with only one purpose: to welcome guests searching for an hostel type of accommodation or surfers travelling to Santander catering for the best comfort and genuine surf spirit! The Surf House has 24 beds and is fully decorated with a surf theme, truly made by surfers for surfers!
The house staff and school instructors have more than 20 years of experience receiving guests and teaching surf, which makes it one of the oldest surf schools and camps in the entire Spain. As soon as you arrive to the surf camp, we will make sure that everything is arranged to offer you the best surf holidays you can imagine!
The surf house offers double rooms but we also have rooms on a sharing basis for up to 4 people, which is ideal for single surfers and small groups of friends sharing. All bedrooms have a private bathroom with all kinds of amenities. At night, you can enjoy a quality time in our bar where some surf parties take place with guests and friends.
The surf house is really close to the beach and only 20 minutes from Santander city centre by bus or boat! This is probably the most consistent surf spot in the North of Spain, but don't worry if the waves don't show up cause there's plenty of things to do around and extra activities. Somo Surfcamp has all the facilities you need for surf holidays in Spain.
The Cantabria region, in the North of Spain, is considered a swell magnet due to its north westerly orientation, especially between San Vicente de la Barquera and Galizano.
On the east side of Galizano, in Laredo, you will find a pristine seashore and countryside area but with less swell as it is protected by a small stretch of land between Noja and Santander. Near San Vicente de la Barquera, there's the Liencres Natural Park with a very cool atmosphere and the region's longest stretch of sand and consistent high quality beach-breaks. So guess where is Somo? Yes... Somo is right in the middle of it all!
This region is therefore famous for its diversity of surf spots. The surf house and surf school is ideally located right in front of Somo's beach and close to many of these secret surf spots which you can get to know with our surfari packages.
The school instructors and local guides are among the most experienced in Spain and know exactly what kind of waves you are fitted to surf or that will impress you. The surf school gives 2 surf sessions per day normally in Somo beach but surf spots may change according to natural conditions of each day.
In Cantabria you can surf from easy long waves to hollow tubes. The most famous surf spots around are the Island of Santa Marina, an heavy wave that breaks over a reef, El Brusco a beach break that with the right swell makes hollow tube rides, El Muro a left hander point break good for practicing perfection, Suances, Laredo and Somo, a beach break ideal for beginners but that can also get nasty sometimes!
