Namibia is a remarkable country.

It is impossible not to be impressed by its majestic pristine landscapes, filled with wild-life and ancestral cultures. It is one of the most remote regions of the planet and it continues to challenge the most daring explorers to discover the countless natural wonders. In contrast to this scenario, Swakopmund is a developed city that retains a colonial architecture and atmosphere that remembers a German coastal city and makes us forget that we are in Africa!

Swakopmund is trapped between the cold Atlantic Ocean and the torrid Namib Desert and was erected by the Germans as a commercial port to supply the capital Windoek. Even today many of the colonial-era buildings give a distinctive environment to Swakop .

Swakop is a must-see on any trip to Namibia, either at the beginning or at the end of the trip.

The Swakopmund Surf Hostel has always been the first choice for the few adventurous surfers that come chasing the biggest wave in the world.

There are also many surf spots nearby just a few minutes walking or driving from the hostel. Great surfing is guaranteed.
But what most of the surfers come chasing at is the famous long left handers in the middle of the desert. You could spend years searching for it as it still remains one of the best kept secrets in the planet! Not many people know about it and even less know where it is. Only experienced local surfers know where it is located and when it shows up.
And guess what... we have the best surf guide in town! If you want to surf the mythical wave, this is the place to stay. We'll take you there when the time comes.

We offer simple but clean accommodation for the budget travellers.

Enjoy the garden or relax in our chill-out area or go down to the beach to check the surf or drink the freshest coffee in town next doors, right after a busy day surfing.

Besides our famous Skeleton Coast Wave we also have nice beginners, intermediate and advance surf spots.

Some are only a few kilometers away, some are up to 120kms. Best surf season for advanced surfers is our winter time between June to September, for beginners our summer time between December till March. Wind for kiting is usually more during the winter months.

We organise daily surf tours to the best surf spot of the day, according to your surf skills

We only go to the Skeleton Coast Wave if it's worth it and this means that we may need to wait weeks for a good swell. If you're really decided to surf THE wave, prepare yourself for a few days (or weeks) stay with us. It's a patience game but it's damn worth it! Please note that you must be intermediate to advanced level so be able to surf that wave. This is a very fast and tubular wave that breaks far from any civilisation or hospital... A comprehensive travel insurance is also recommended.

In the meantime while we wait for THE wave we will take you surfing other spots that will certainly surprise you and make your trip to this remote part of the world quite worth it.
