Azores archipelago has many scattered islands but they are relatively close to each other so we may consider that there’s only one single season, no matter the island. Just a few particularities differ from island to island. There’s always at least one good spot to surf every day but it may not be easy to find since travelling between each island may take a few hours and access to spot also a few hours.
You can expect very mild weather, warm water temperatures and great swell all year round. This means water temperature generally between 15-25Cº throughout the year. Although, the best surf season in Azores starts in late September up till April. It has its peak between November to February when the big winter swells from the North Atlantic hit the islands. Some winter storms occur, producing S winds. Summers are generally flat, with few breaks able to make much of locally generated wind swells from SE-SW.
